The Pi Network's protocol upgrade is progressing toward its March 1 completion deadline, with all active Mainnet nodes required to complete Step 2 to maintain connectivity. This marks a critical technical milestone in the network's 2026 roadmap.

Version 0.5.4 of the Node software is now live across Windows, Mac, and Linux, reinforcing the platform's infrastructure. Everyday users can participate by running nodes via the Pi Desktop app, advancing the network's decentralization goals—a key distinction from traditional, capital-intensive blockchains.

Following the announcement, Pi's price surged 4.69% to $0.1718, later stabilizing in the $0.1680–$0.1695 range amid broader market movements tied to Bitcoin's rally and institutional ETF inflows. While supporters applaud the upgrade's potential, skeptics question whether the price action reflects genuine momentum or short-term hype.
